Spend time with Dr. Norman P. Spack, pediatric endocrinologist at Children's Hospital Boston and internationally known specialist in treatment for intersexed and transgender youth. The Adventure will include a tour of Fenway Community Health, the largest facility ever constructed with a specific mission to serve the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community. The Fenway Institute has a number of firsts: the nation's first community-based HIV research program, conducting long-term epidemiological research since 1985, one of eight US sites selected to recruit participants for the first clinical trials of an HIV vaccine, the first community-based organization awarded a federal population center grant in 2007 from the National Institutes of Health, and publishers of the nation's first medical textbook focused on LGBT people, The Fenway Guide to LGBT Health.
By offering Adventures prior to and for many months after the conference, TEDxBeaconStreet will enable more people to get involved, fostering the spread of powerful thought and ignition of critical dialog.
