ABSTRACT

Special Topic Session

Special Topic Sessions have the following pattern:
  • ½ Session (1.5 hours)
  • Full-Session (3 hours)

Special Topic Session coordinators are encouraged to include more interactive learning opportunities than for normal technical sessions. For more information or technical assistance about instructional design, email Chad Weikel at cweikel@awwa.org.

Suggested activities include:
  • small group discussions
  • problem-solving scenarios
  • panel discussions
  • analyzing and/or evaluating a case study
  • creating an action plan for implementing a solution
As a Special Topic coordinator, you are required to obtain and submit these materials for your speakers:
  • The agenda for the entire session
  • Complete resumes for all presenters
  • AWWA Presenter Intro and Creative Commons Release Form
Portions of the information will be used in the printed and/or online program. Ensure information is complete and accurately portrays the session to attendees.
SPECIAL TOPIC

Workshop

Workshops have the following pattern:
  • Sunday Full-Day Workshop (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.).
  • Sunday Half-Day Workshop (8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.).
Workshops are to be hands-on and interactive. If you are planning a lecture-style format, it is suggested that you request a special topic session instead. Workshop coordinators must include more interactive learning opportunities than for normal technical sessions. For more information or technical assistance on instructional design, email Chad Weikel at cweikel@awwa.org.
Suggested activities include:
  • Small group discussions
  • Problem-solving scenarios
  • Evaluating a case study
  • Creating an action plan for implementing a solution
  • Conducting a hands-on demo of a new tool or technique

As a workshop coordinator, you are required to obtain and submit these materials from your speakers.
  • PowerPoint presentations (for Sunday Workshop Electronic Workbooks) Due Friday, February 23, 2018.
  • The agenda for the entire workshop
  • Complete resumes for all presenters
Ensure the information is complete and accurately portrays the session to attendees.
